The Kit
Gear I Actually Travel With
People ask what I film with and what I actually pack. This is the real list — my current camera setup, the bags and boots that have genuinely been around the world with me, the camp gear, and everything that travels with Artemis. It's all kit I use. 🎥How I Film
The kit I shoot with now — small enough to actually carry everywhere, which is the entire point.
Xtra Muse Vlogging Camera (1" CMOS, 4K/120fps, 3-Axis Gimbal)
My main camera. A one-inch sensor and a built-in gimbal in something that fits in a jacket pocket — small enough that I'll actually carry it everywhere, which is the only reason footage exists.

A grip and a huge spare battery in one. Roughly doubles shooting time and makes handheld walking shots far steadier.

The waterproof hard case the whole rig lives in — camera, mics, batteries, filters. What keeps a few hundred dollars of gear alive in the bottom of a pack.

Cheap insurance for the most fragile part of the camera. The accessory you regret skipping the first time the lens takes a knock.

Magnetic ND and polarizing filters for shooting in harsh midday sun without blowing out the sky, plus a wide-angle adapter for tight interiors and ruins.

Extends to a selfie stick, folds to a tabletop tripod. My one-handed grip for talking-to-camera and self-timer shots.

Clamps a phone to the camera as a bigger external screen, so I can actually see the frame while filming.

View on AmazonFLEXTAIL Tiny Pump X (Air Pump + Camp Light)
A rechargeable pump the size of a golf ball that inflates the sleeping pad in about a minute — and doubles as a camp light. No more lung-powered inflation at the end of a long day.

A real chair that packs down to almost nothing. Worth the small weight penalty more often than you'd expect.

Everything that comes along for my adventure cat — including the orange harness with a story.
Artemis's Adventure Harness
The orange harness Artemis wears — the one in the logo. She kept it on the entire week she went missing in the woods and never once tried to slip it; she only came out of it when she was finally caught. It's been everything I'd want in a cat harness.
One honest caveat: a replacement I ordered later didn't fit the same, so the pattern may have changed. I can't promise current stock matches the one we have — but ours has been perfect.

Retractable leash that gives Artemis room to explore a trail without me losing track of her.
