FeatherCue
Privacy Policy
Effective August 13, 2026
Overview
FeatherCue is operated by The Bearded Vagabond LLC. This policy explains how FeatherCue handles information when you use the mobile app and its optional Apple Watch or Wear OS remote.
FeatherCue does not require an account or display advertising and uses only the limited product analytics and advertising attribution described below. Your scripts are not uploaded to The Bearded Vagabond LLC.
Anonymous analytics
FeatherCue uses PostHog to count app opens and the related app lifecycle signals its analytics library reports, such as a first install, an update, and the app becoming active or moving to the background, together with a small set of product events, such as reaching the Pro screen, using selected features, and starting or completing a purchase. Events use a random app-installation identifier and may include only the event time and limited event details such as the feature, mode, product, outcome, non-specific error reason, the app store involved, and how long a store request took.
FeatherCue instructs PostHog to discard IP addresses and disable location enrichment. Analytics events do include basic technical details about the app and device, such as the app version and build, device model and type, operating-system version, language, time zone, and screen size. PostHog analytics does not include your name, email address, advertising identifier, location, script contents, recognized speech, recordings, payment-card information, or browsing activity. FeatherCue does not use session replay or screen or touch recording.
On Android, FeatherCue uses Meta's mobile SDK to measure whether an advertisement led to an app install and to measure checkout and purchase results. Meta may receive limited app, device, operating-system, timestamp, purchase, and network information, including an IP address. FeatherCue never collects the Google advertising identifier.
On iPhone and iPad, FeatherCue sends Meta nothing at all. Advertising measurement there uses Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports results in aggregate and cannot identify you, so FeatherCue never asks for permission to track you across other companies' apps or websites and never collects the Apple advertising identifier. On neither platform does FeatherCue send Meta scripts, recognized speech, recordings, screens, touches, names, email addresses, or custom content.
You can switch anonymous analytics off at any time in Privacy & Support, and every FeatherCue feature keeps working when it is off. In the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Canada, and Brazil, FeatherCue asks before switching analytics on and sends nothing until you choose.
Scripts and app settings
Scripts you type, paste, or import, along with app settings and reading positions, are stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. Imported TXT, Markdown, and PDF files are processed on the device. FeatherCue does not send their contents to our servers.
Local data remains on your device until you delete a script, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Your operating system may include app data in device backups according to your device and backup settings.
Microphone and speech recognition
Voice Scroll uses the microphone and your device's speech-recognition service only after you choose to start Voice Scroll and grant permission. FeatherCue uses the resulting recognized words to follow your place in the script.
Voice Scroll does not record or retain microphone audio and does not create a separate stored transcript. Depending on your device, operating system, language, and settings, audio or recognized speech may be processed by Apple, Google, or another speech-service provider and may be transmitted to that provider. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
You can stop Voice Scroll at any time and can revoke microphone or speech-recognition permission in your device settings.
Camera and recorded videos
FeatherCue Pro includes an optional camera recorder. FeatherCue uses your camera and microphone only after you open the recorder, grant permission, and start recording. Videos are created and stored locally on your device. The Bearded Vagabond LLC does not upload, view, or receive your recordings.
When a recording finishes, FeatherCue opens your device's sharing interface. You choose whether and where to share or save the video. Any destination you select handles the video under its own privacy policy. FeatherCue does not select a destination or share a recording without your action.
Recording uses the microphone route selected by your operating system. This can include a connected Bluetooth microphone when your device and its video-recording system support it.
Purchases
FeatherCue uses Apple's App Store or Google Play to process purchases and RevenueCat to verify and restore the FeatherCue Pro lifetime entitlement. We do not receive your full payment-card information.
The store and RevenueCat may process purchase receipts or tokens, product and entitlement information, an anonymous app-specific customer identifier, device type, operating system, app version, locale or currency, IP-derived country, and transaction timestamps needed to provide and protect the purchase service. Their privacy policies govern their handling of that information.
App updates and watch remotes
FeatherCue uses Expo's update service to check for and download app updates. Expo may receive an IP address, device operating system, project and app version information, a randomized update token, and update request, error, or performance information.
The optional Wear OS remote sends play, pause, and reset commands between your paired watch and phone through Google's Wear OS Data Layer. The remote does not receive or display your script text.
The optional Apple Watch remote sends the same commands between your paired Apple Watch and iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. It does not receive or display your script text.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information is handled by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Expo, PostHog, and Meta only as needed to provide speech recognition, purchases, app updates, platform functionality, and the limited optional analytics described above. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect users, our rights, or the security of the app.
Learn more in the service providers' privacy policies: Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Expo, PostHog, and Meta.
Your choices
You can use every app feature without allowing optional analytics. You can change analytics later in Privacy & Support, delete individual scripts in the script library, revoke camera, microphone, or speech-recognition access in system settings, manage device backups through your operating system, and request purchase information or refunds through the applicable app store.
Because FeatherCue has no account or developer-operated cloud database, we generally do not possess a user profile or cloud copy of your scripts to retrieve or delete.
Data deletion requests
Delete a locally stored script by long-pressing it in the script library. Clearing FeatherCue's app data or uninstalling the app removes its other locally stored data from that device, subject to any device backups you control.
To request deletion of any FeatherCue support information held by The Bearded Vagabond LLC, email contact@thebeardedvagabond.com with the subject “FeatherCue Data Deletion Request.” Include the device platform and enough detail to locate the request, but do not send a script or payment-card information. We will delete applicable developer-controlled support records within 30 days after verification, except information that must be retained for legal, fraud-prevention, security, or accounting purposes.
Apple or Google retains app-store purchase records under its own policies. Service providers used for purchase validation, app updates, and diagnostics may retain limited transaction, device, or diagnostic information under their policies. Contact us and we will help route an applicable request; app-store billing records may need to be handled directly by Apple or Google.
Children's privacy
FeatherCue is a general-audience productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through developer-operated services.
Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards and minimize the information handled by the app, but no device, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
We may update this policy when FeatherCue's features or service providers change. The effective date shown above will be updated when material changes are made.
